VMware Network Ports Diagrams (vSphere, vCloud, vCenter, SRM, VR, VCD, Update Manager)

For long time there are various Diagrams when it comes to configuring Firewall and make the changes on the Network to provide access to certain person to certain product.

There is lot of work done to make a singular Diagram available now.

A KB is also published http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2054806 which has a link to the PDF file.

But here is the Pictorial view of the Ports which includes the products such as vSphere, vCenter Server (w Linked Mode), VMware Update Manager, vCO, vCloud Director, ESXi, vSphere Client etc.

The port information are integrated on the diagram using information from various KB articles mentioned below.

1012382, 2031843, 2039095.

@simonlong_ has recently blogged about VMware Horizon View 5.2 Diagrams for Internal and External facing Designs.

While we are at the Firwall Diagrams you can refer the SRM diagrams blogged by Grant Orchard (@grantorchard and also refer the KB article 1009562 for details tables.

vSphere Replication

Site Recovery Manager

SRM and VR

@Hany_Michael has contributed towards developing the diagram which is documented under KB 1030954. He also blogged about various other diagrams on his blog here.

Hope you enjoy using all the Diagrams and configure your environment accordingly to make them secure and also go with your requirements.

These are also helpful in studying for VCP or VCAP exams as well.

Care and share please !

Cheers !!

VMUG Voice

I am a VMUG member but not yet actively engaged in all the activities offered by the VMUG groups.

But while working with cloud cred on task I had to complete is to Blog about VMUG Voice.

What is VMUG Voice??

As per the site www.vmug.com:

"VMUG Voice is the monthly electronic newsletter distributed exclusively to VMUG members. Launched in June 2010, the newsletter is a premier educational resource for VMware users worldwide. Through VMUG Voice, VMware users can:

  • Read the latest about VMware products and enhancements
  • Learn through white papers and case studies of successful VMware applications
  • Take advantage of VMware tips shared by other professionals, including expert bloggers
  • Discover how affiliated vendors can help maximize their productivity and success
  • Learn about upcoming VMware and VMUG events
  • Find out how VMUG chapters are educating their members

so basically you have to keep trying and contribute as much as you can to the VMUG as a member and depending on the contribution you can be on the VMUG Voice Featured Member one day.

Keep sharing and contributing towards VMUGs !!

Share and Care !!

Thanks to all.

CloudCred Gifts

Recently I joined the CloudCred program and found it interesting as there are so many Tasks you can complete and earn some gifts for your self.

This also makes things little challenging when it comes to Team level or attending some Seminar or IT shows or a group skype call or a Google Hangout with other team members.

Now not everyone has enough time/affordability to do the same but there are tasks you can finish and participate active with other members of the VMware community and can use all kinds of Social Media to spread the knowledge/news/information about VMware Technolgy and also about their Partners'.

So far with my contribution I was able to gather some gifts

Next stop is the Hat and then Umbrella.

Update: Got the Hat

Also there are the Prize for being on top which is 2 Passes for VMworld (Barcelona) which will be interesting to get but requires lot of time and efforts.

Enjoy the social connections and spread the CloudCred

Cheers !!
